Junior School - Pastoral Care

The class teacher is the primary carer for students in the Junior School. Children spend most of their learning and play time with their home class teacher, who works at getting to know each student and his or her specific needs, interests and concerns. Developing positive and lasting social skills is one of the key parts of a strong pastoral care approach.

The Coordinators of Kindergarten to Year 2 and Years 3 to 6 each have a role in assisting class teachers to best care for, guide, instruct and encourage their students. Teachers communicate with parents to work together on matters of concern for children in their care. The Head of Junior School plays a significant role in setting the direction of and supporting the pastoral care programs in the Junior School.
