Junior School - Fathering Project

Shellharbour Anglican College is pleased to work closely with the not-for-profit organisation The Fathering Project to assist fathers and father figures be the best fathers or father figures they can be.

The aim of the partnership is to positively promote the important role of fathers and father figures through a variety of father and child activities and father and school activities. Research show that there is an overwhelming benefit to young people when there is a significant father or father figure in their life. Our College is committed to providing the best community possible for our families and The Fathering Project is part of this goal.

Some of the recent activities undertaken through the College have included

  • Men's How to Cook a Steak night
  • Junior School Billy Cart Derby
  • Family Fishing Afternoon

The Junior School Billy Cart Derby was a huge success with over 70 carts registered for the days events. A number of activities were run and whilst some carts were built for speed, others for manoeuvrability and some for comfort all the carts looked amazing and the students had a ball. For those who may not have had time to build a cart yet, how to instructions are listed below.

There are currently several dads of the College who have formed a "Champion" Dads' Group and volunteer their time to bring this program to fruition.   For more information about The Fathering Project group please contact Mr Greg Barnier 0412 096 194 or have a look at the website thefatheringproject.org or search on facebook for the NSW page - Fathering Project.
