Senior School - Sport

Years 7 to 12 are involved in weekly sport. The chosen sport generally reflects summer or winter options and student interest.  Sports have included

  • surfing
  • rowing
  • cricket
  • tennis
  • netball
  • Rugby
  • football
  • AFL
  • basketball
  • touch rugby

to name a few. While we have some great facilities on site a number of activities take place in our local area. Our oval includes facilities for Rugby, football, cricket, discuss and shot putt. Terraced grassed areas include tennis and basketball/netball facilities and complement the multi-purpose hall which offers indoor basketball, netball and volleyball courts.

College swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals are hotly contested House events and lead to opportunities for students to represent at SASSA, AICES, CIS, All Schools and National competitions. For a relatively young school we have been blessed with athletes who have represented at all these levels both individually and in team sports.

While we are not a “Saturday sport” school we nevertheless encourage students to take the opportunity to represent this community either as an individual or as part of a team. Research consistently affirms the fact that students participating in activities outside the classroom enjoy their overall school experiences more.

Students also have the opportunity to represent and compete at higher levels through the following pathway of SASSA representation, AICES, NSWCIS and All Schools. In recent years, students have competed at AICES and NSWCIS level in athletics, swimming, cross country, rugby, touch, rugby league, football, triathlon (individual and teams), tennis, AFL, gymnastics, netball, golf and snowsports. There have been outstanding performances at the NSWCIS level in athletics, swimming, cross country, touch, rugby league, football, AFL, gymnastics, netball and golf.

Participation in sport plays an important part of a student's school experience and life helping to:

  • foster teamwork
  • build relationships
  • boost confidence
  • improve altertness and the ability to concentrate on mental tasks
  • improve and maintain health
