Principal’s Message

Shellharbour Anglican College is more than a school. We’re a hive of learning, faith and community, empowering students to live with purpose.

When your child starts their learning journey here, your whole family becomes a member of our vibrant, respectful and compassionate community. We partner with parents to ensure a supportive environment where the adventure of learning can come to life.

Allowing students to develop a sense of hope and a capacity to be curious, creative and actively learn are just some of the things I am passionate about. In a constantly evolving world, I hope that our students will grow resilience, compassion and a strong sense of justice to tackle life’s challenges with grace and good judgement. My mission is to build an engaging learning community and provide real-world opportunities to care for our world, serve others and find solutions to complex problems. This might seem like a big task. But I have the greatest confidence in this next generation of innovators and learners.

Ultimately, schools are about creating a community of ‘shalom’ (peace). Crafting an environment where we are at peace with God, our world, ourselves and each other.

Regardless of faith, our school is a safe place for students and families to wrestle with some of life’s big questions – Who is Jesus? What is life about? What does it mean to truly live in Peace? I love to hear students ask questions, big and small! To be curious is to be learning and growing.

Since our College opened its doors in 2004 to just 93 students, we have grown and evolved, in concert with the changing needs of the Illawarra region. Our staff, facilities and resources continue to grow so that we can maintain an environment where every child can be bold and curious in their pursuit of deeper learning. It’s about ensuring every child is known, cared for and challenged in a well-resourced environment to support future-forward learning. Our students also benefit from an expanded platform of opportunities, with greater choice for electives and co-curricular programs. Our planning for the future is focussed on fostering a transformative educational experience through service learning. We aim to empower students with hope and purpose, cultivating qualities of courage, compassion and curiosity.

I know that finding the right school for your child is an important decision. It requires careful consideration. I warmly invite interested families to visit our campus, nestled between the Tasman Sea and Illawarra Escarpment, to see for yourself the Shellharbour difference. I look forward to meeting you in person and hearing all about your hopes and dreams for your children in this exciting chapter ahead.
